Sudoku hints for everybody
I used to think that Sudoku was one of those "boring" things that I could not for the life of me imagine wasting any time
on.
I was wrong and now I am totally hooked on the brain-teasers that are Sudoku games. This site with sudoku hints is a result of this
newfound hobby that I wish to share with as many other people as possible. We will be examining the games general characteristics as well as
various Sudoku tips.
Because - let's face it - to be healthy we need to exercise our minds as well a our bodies. Parking permanently on the sofa and in front of
the telly won't do us much good in either department. I won't tell you how to exercise your physical body - but I can tell you that solving
Sudoku Puzzles sure is a great way to stimulate those little grey cells of ours (as Poirot the detective would say).
"But I know nothing about Sudoku"!
No worries mate, until relatively recently neither did I, in fact I even considered it a totally dull activaty for grandpa's and grandma's. I
go into more detail about how to solve Sudoku puzzles, various hints and strategies in
sections dedicated to these topics.
But briefly then, Sudoku is Japanese and in English means "the digits must remain single". Much like the famous Rubik's cube of the 80'ies, it
is a game that requires a healthy amount of logic thinking. Some also call it "number place", which is derived from the logic based placement of
the numbers.
A Sudoku game puzzle consists of a series of grids. The grids usually involve one big 9
x 9 grid that holds, 9 3 x 3 tiny grids.
The idea of the game is to put the numbers 1 to 9 into each of these grid units, and there are three rules for how this should be done:
1. Each of the numbers from 1 to 9 should come out only once in each column.
2. Each number from 1 to 9 must appear once in each row.
3. Each should appear once in each small 3 x 3 grid
In Sudoku, you do not have to add the numbers and look for the sum of the rows and columns. Though it is a game number, definitely there
will be no addition included.
Sudoku everywhere
As far as I know, a Sudoku game was published in the United States for the first time in 1979, but right now it has reached an all time height
- with daily Sudoku puzzles being published in almost all newspapers (don't claim you have never seen one). It has never been more "in" to
play Sudoku.
In our day and age of computers and an insane information flow from TV and the Internet, it is really refreshing to see something as simple as
Sudoku puzzles become popular.
They are the ideal low-tech pastime, you can find one for free in many newspapers, you can by a Sudoku book
filled with these puzzles and you can take them with you almost everywhere.
Of course there have also surfaced many electronic Suduku games for computers and small handheld
Sudoku consoles, filled with hundreds - if not thousands - of these puzzles. Finally you can play Sudokuhint's Sudoku puzzle every day on this site.
